(lot of 37) French library shelf books, all with gilt-embossed leather binding, marbleized cover, many with raised spine bands, highlights include: (15) "Histoire de France Depuis les Temps les Plus Recules Jusqu'en 1789 (History of France from the Earliest Times to 1789)," by Henri Martin, published by Furne, Jouvet and Company, Paris, 1878, volumes I-XIV and Table Analytique; (3) "Oeuvres Completes de Marmontel (Complete Works of Marmontel)," compiled by the French Academy, published by Verdiere, printed by Firmin Didot, volumes 12, 13, and 15, 1819; (1) "Le Lys dans la Vallee (The Lily in the Valley)," by Honore de Balzac, published by Ernest Flammarion, Paris, with deckled page ends; largest: approx 9"h, 6"w, 1.25"d, 63lbs total PLEASE NOTE: All of the antique library shelf books in this auction are inherently fragile.
