Lot description
(lot of 52) French library shelf books, various medical journals, economics, and chemistry, each with gilt-embossed tan leather binding, marbleized cover, most with raised spine bands, highlights include: (1) macrominiature format book, "Imitation de la Tres-Sainte Vierge (Imitation of the Most Holy Virgin)," with gilt page ends, published by Pellion and Marchet Brothers, Dijon, retaining (two) etchings published by Charles Letaille (French, 1815-1908), (27) "Journal de Medecine, Chirurgie, Pharmacie (Journal of Medicine, Surgery, and Pharmacy)," compiled by M. Maugras, published by Didot, Paris, dates ranging from 1755 to 1792, (3) "Recherches sur Les Pouls par Rapport aux Crises (Research on Pulses in Relation to Seizures)," compiled by M. Theophile de Bordeu, published by Theophile Barrois, Paris, 1772-1774, many with evidence of old bookworm and continued degradation, largest: approx 6.75"h, 4.5"w, 1"d, 36lbs total PLEASE NOTE: All of the antique library shelf books in this auction are inherently fragile.
