(lot of 39) French library shelf books, history, periodicals, opera, and literature subjects, most with gilt-embossed red leather binding, many with marbleized covers and raised spine bands, highlights include: (2) "Histoire Populaire de la France (Popular French History)," published by Librarie de L. Hachette and Company, printed by Ch. Lahure, Paris, 1866, volumes I-II; (4) operas by Charles Gounod, various publishers, (one) "Romeo and Juliet," (one) "Philemon and Baucis," (one) "Cinq-Mars," (one) "Faust," (1) "Journal des Demoiselles (Young Ladies' Journal)," published in Paris, December 1905; largest: approx 12.25"h, 8"w, 1.75"d, 88lbs total PLEASE NOTE: All of the antique library shelf books in this auction are inherently fragile.
