French Neoclassical style black slate mantel clock, late 19th c., having figural topper modeled as a Classical style bust, over architectural case adorned with domes, colonnade, and fluted Corinthian columns, central gilt metal dial with Arabic hour markers, time-and-strike movement marked Japy Freres, accompanied by pendulum, bell and striker operational, striker possibly with later dampener, movement winds well and appears to be operational, likely in need of adjustment, small chip to slate at upper right side, approx 17.5"h, 14"w, 6"d, 39.5lbs Provenance: From the estate of Carl Carter (Texas, 1955-2023)
