French Neoclassical style black slate mantel clock, late 19th c., having architectural case with raised pediment flanked by semi-domes, each with frieze depicting battling figures in bas relief, rising on fluted columnar supports, central enamel dial with Arabic hour markers, time-and-strike movement marked Japy Freres, on stepped base, lacking pendulum, movement responds well when wound, suspension spring appears to be broken, striker in need of adjustment, operational status of the movement unknown, approx 14.25"h, 16"w, 6"d, 42lbs Provenance: From the estate of Carl Carter (Texas, 1955-2023)
