Continental black slate and patinated bronze mantel clock, late 19th c., having figural topper depicting the Roman god Mercury, after the original sculpture by Giambologna (Italian, 1529-1608), rising on stepped case with central beveled glass door, over dial with Roman numeral hour markers, time-and-strike movement marked Japy Freres, rising on paw feet, accompanied by pendulum, fracture to glass inspection door, movement over-wound and in need of adjustment, overall: approx 32.5"h, 16.5"w, 6.5"d, 46lbs Provenance: From the estate of Carl Carter (Texas, 1955-2023)
