ANTIQUE COLT SINGLE ACTION .45 REVOLVER, MFG 1888

Antique Colt Single Action Army Revolver, Mfg. 1888, .45 caliber, having a 4.75" barrel with blade front sight, the barrel top marked on a single line "Colt's PT F.A. Mfg. Co, Hartford Ct. U.S.A., the left frame with a three line patent date, the last being "Jan. 19.-75.", a six round fluted cylinder marked at the rear with a "P" and "I", wood grips, the left grip with a faint square that may or may not be an inspection mark, the metal is mostly silver tone with a very small percentage of nickel plating remaining, the ejector operates but the barrel underside was not examined because the ejector housing screw is damaged, the action is strong with 4 hammer clicks, the bore has some pitting and strong appearing rifling, the fourth digit of the serial number in all observed locations is an "8" struck over a "7" which does not affect the mfg. date stated above, the serial number appears at butt, frame and barrel lug, SN 86680

Colt Single Action Army Revolver, .44 caliber, mfg. 1880, 4.5/8" reduced length round barrel with caliber at lower left, ill fitted blade front sight, shell ejector and housing, six round fluted cylinder with the Rampant Colt image appearing at the cylinder rear indicating a 2nd generation cylinder, loading gate numbered "263", two line patent date at left frame, left front trigger guard marked "44.C.F.", serial number at lower barrel lug, trigger guard and butt, only "0" number visible under ejector housing, number "263" also appears on frame beneath trigger guard, later oak leaf and acorn motif grips, metal has been refinished and now is a dull silver tone with some lettering obscured, scratching and cylinder drag line, action is good, bore is semi-bright with pitting and worn rifling, SN 57490

U.S.A.", six round fluted cylinder, grooved rear sight at top of frame, marked at the lower left frame with three patent dates ending in "Jan 19 -75", marked at the left trigger guard "45 CAL", loading gate marked "5255", marked at the underside of both grips in blue ink "May 26,1940", the serial number matched at the butt, front of trigger guard, frame in front of trigger guard, cylinder, and the underside of the ejector housing, the barrel underside beneath the ejector housing also marked with a very small "G over C", metal finish is gray/brown with very light pitting in places and some scratches and dings, grips are ivory with a beautiful aged patina, action is excellent with four clicks at hammer, bore is semi-bright with some pitting, rifling is good, overall a fine firearm, SN 86806
