Lot description

Colt Single Action Army Revolver, c. 1882, .45 caliber, 7.5" round barrel, blade front sight, marked at the barrel top "Colt's Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford Ct. U.S.A.", six round fluted cylinder, grooved rear sight at top of frame, marked at the lower left frame with three patent dates ending in "Jan 19 -75", marked at the left trigger guard "45 CAL", loading gate marked "5255", marked at the underside of both grips in blue ink "May 26,1940", the serial number matched at the butt, front of trigger guard, frame in front of trigger guard, cylinder, and the underside of the ejector housing, the barrel underside beneath the ejector housing also marked with a very small "G over C", metal finish is gray/brown with very light pitting in places and some scratches and dings, grips are ivory with a beautiful aged patina, action is excellent with four clicks at hammer, bore is semi-bright with some pitting, rifling is good, overall a fine firearm, SN 86806
