(lot of 2) Continental liturgical textiles, including: (1) architectural door surround, dyed silk with raised crewel embroidery framing floral and foliate motifs, brown lining fabric, scattered stable tears and staining, exterior: approx 60"l, 78"w, interior (measurement taken from highest point): approx 48"l, 46"w; (1) wall-hanging or banner, possibly a fragment of a cope vestment, with goldworked scrolling foliates and central crucifix executed in metal threads on red ground, applique and fringe trim with central tassel, some overall red thread losses, stable segment of fringe separation, approx 17.5"l, 17"w; 6lbs total Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia. Kathryn retired in 2020 and now lives in Georgetown, Texas PLEASE NOTE: All of the textiles in this auction would likely benefit from a professional cleaning. Most are likely to have some staining, missing trim, and evidence of wear. Please assume that they are not in perfect condition and bid accordingly.
