(lot of 2) Continental liturgical altar frontals or antependium cloths, 18th/ 19th c., each with woven yellow and metallic thread ground, applique ribbon trim, and metallic fringe, with padded goldwork embroidery executed in gold and silver metal threads, including: (1) depicting a pelican mother wounding her breast to feed her young, representing the Catholic symbol of the "Pelican in Her Piety," lower scalloped edge, approx 95"l, 12.5"w; (1) central IHS (Iesus Hominum Salvator) Christogram, framed by rays of sunlight, and foliated scrollwork with studded grape motifs, silk backing fabric, tearing at one end, approx 61"l, 15.5"w; 4lbs total Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V.
