French needlepoint and petit point wall-hanging fragment, 18th/19th c., likely depicting the myth of Europa with Zeus disguised as the white bull and her handmaidens in a verdant landscape, foliated scrollwork framing, approx 43"l, 19"w, 1.5lbs Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia. Kathryn retired in 2020 and now lives in Georgetown, Texas PLEASE NOTE: All of the textiles in this auction would likely benefit from a professional cleaning. Though we do not currently observe any major tears or losses, most are likely to have some staining, missing trim, and evidence of wear.
