Native American silver (content unknown) bolo tie, attributed by consignor to Vera Luna (Zuni, 1930-1982), round shell plaque, applique katsina mask with multi stone inlay incorporating shell, turquoise, coral and jet, suspending five feather pendants, silver bolo tips, braided black leather cord, ornament stamped VL, bolo ornament only: approx 1.75"diam, 40.5 grams (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
