Native American silver (content unknown) bolo tie, Charlie Bird (Kewa-Laguna, b.1943), rectangular plaque with mosaic inlay red spiny oyster shell, white shell and turquoise, silver bolo tips, braided brown leather cord, ornament stamped C/ picto mark, bolo ornament only: approx 1 11/16"h, 1 1/8"w, 38.3 grams (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
