Continental woven tapestry door surround, 18th c., central trompe l'oeil architectural cartouche, with Latin inscription "hic Carlianvs imperator Vallocent es vincit (here is the Carlian emperor Vallocent, you conquer)," flanked on each side by a female figure and a fruit-filled cornucopia, among foliate scrollwork, each side modeled as a fluted column with acanthus leaf terminals, approx 48"h, 150"w, 6.75lbs Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia. Kathryn retired in 2020 and now lives in Georgetown, Texas PLEASE NOTE: All of the textiles in this auction would likely benefit from a professional cleaning. Though we do not currently observe any major tears or losses, most are likely to have some staining, missing trim, and evidence of wear. Please assume that they are not in perfect condition and bid accordingly. Per our terms, there will be no condition reports and no refunds based on condition
