Fine French liturgical vestment stole, profusely embroidered with couched metallic threads, forming flowering urns, grape clusters, and floral blossoms in scrolling foliate surround, on red velvet ground, large circular plaque, with embroidered IHS Christogram, framed by sequined rays on metallic ground, issuing bulbous tassels, the opposite side with embroidered inscriptions "2nd Porte Chandelier, Sainte Marguerite de L'Autel 1876 (2nd Candlestick Holder, Sainte Marguerite de L'Autel 1876)," with gold brocade trim, finished with metallic braided fringe, tears to velvet below plaque, approx 74"l, 13"w, 5lbs Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia.
