Lot description
English black lacquered trunk/ storage chest, 19th c., with transfer printed fabric appliques depicting court couples and musicians in Renaissance era dress, hinged lid opening to removable partitioned shelf over main compartment, interior in an orange-painted finish, approx 18.5"h, 41"w, 23.75"d Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance. The estate features an extensive array of English furniture alongside antique decorative objects, the kind of exceptional pieces that only reveal themselves to collectors who know where to look and what to seek.
