English Charles II style carved oak bible box on stand, early 19th c., rectangular case with hinged lid, revealing sectioned interior, the front with carved foliates in beaded arches, with double monogram AM, rising on squared wood stand, overall: approx 23"h, 30"w, 20.25"d Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance.
