Lot description

(1) WWII Era British/US “43-series” Silk Cloth Escape Maps stored within a waterproof pouch and unopened until 2025, the pouch front lettered "C/D E/F Map Only", the interior hold a dime size brass size 'button' compass and 4" x 5.8" still in the original wrapping hacksaw blade, all for use by downed flight crews over Europe to aid in safe escape, the two double sided maps retain the original bright colors and details showing France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Croatia, Montenegro, Hungary, Slovak, Italy, maps show distances in kilometers and miles, details with topographic altitudes, railways, canals frontiers, as of 1943, cities, towns, villages and more, each map approx. 30"h, 34"w; (1) German airplane flight gauge measuring kilometer per hour from 100 to 1000, the back with two molded labels and one paper label reading "Gesamtdruck", "Srtatischer Druck", and (Fahrtmesser FL22241", a sealed adjustment port is numbered "33D", the case appears to be a Bakelite like material, retains two wrapped 4" and 4.75" rubber tubes, gauge without tubes approx. 4" x 4" x 4", the instrument likely mfg. by Rudolf. Fuess successors, Berlin, c..1944.for use in late war jets such as the Me 262. for shipping largest measurements approx. 9" x 4" x 4", total of all approx. 1.55lbs
