U.S. Model 1881 Cavalry Officer Dress Helmet, black with reddish orange plume, the front with the large brass plate depicting the American eagle holding a E Pluribus Unum" banner and federal shield over crossed swords, the visor strap with side buttons having crossed swords, an unmarked leather interior sweat band, the interior spike plate marked "Raymold & Whitlock (Raymond & Whitlock, New York City, active 1881-1898), surface damage to hat above front plate; slight finish rubs along continuing brim leather, lacks both vent hole covers, for shipping approx. 11.25" x 10.5" x 6.5", 1lb
