Lot description
Japanese Wakizashi or short sword, the 21" bright steel blade with Japanese character markings appearing only on the nakajo or blade tang which is covered by a wood handle with silk wrapping and ray skin, the blade with several small nicks, the circular guard or tsuba is dark unmarked iron with copper spacers or seppa, the rear seppa appears to have been glued to the fuchi, the front of the, a single mekugi wood peg secures the handle to the blade tang or nakjo, housed in a black lacquered scabbard with gilt decoration including several figures, scabbard split at mouth and lacks suspension knob, overall: approx. 33.25"l; for shipping 1.80lbs
