(lot of 2) Framed Southeast Asian parcel gilt carved panels, Thailand, likely formerly elements from a storage chest, each having central gilt relief scene, (one) depicting the seated Buddha with horse and attendant, (one) depicting two Bodhisattvas beside steed, with box-jointed sides, on upholstered back panel, each element: approx 20"h, 20"w, overall: approx 27.25"h, 27.25"w, 28lbs total Provenance: From Donald and Renate Van Stone's Austin, Texas estate. Donald Van Stone served as the Regional Vice President of the First National Bank of Chicago from 1971-1984, a time in which the bank was expanding internationally. After assignments in Germany, Kenya, and Australia, the Van Stones moved to Manila, Philippines where they began amassing an impressive collection of Chinese and Southeast Asian art and artifacts, some of which will be offered in this auction.
