Native American sterling silver and turquoise bolo tie, signed H. Blackgoat (Harrison Blackgoat, Navajo/ Dine, 1939-1977), with square turquoise cabochon, surrounded by radiating stampwork motifs, silver tips, on braided black leather cord, bolo hallmarked sterling to reverse, bolo ornament only: approx 2.5"h, 2"w; 63.4 grams (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
