(lot of 2) Native American Hopi silver overlay bolo ties, each with silver tips, on braided black leather cord, including: (1) sterling silver bolo,  initialed T (Floyd Namingha Lomakuyvaya, Hopi Pueblo, active in Arizona, b.1940), tapered ornament depicting a Katsina/ Kachina Mana beside a corn stalk motif, hallmarked sterling to reverse, bolo ornament only: approx 2.5"h, 1 7/8"w; (1) silver (content unknown) bolo, Cedric Navenma Kuwaninvaya (Hopi Pueblo, 20th c.), with adobe houses above whirlwind motif, pictorial hallmark to reverse, bolo ornament only: approx 2 1/8"h, 1.5"w; 131.6 grams total (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
