Native American Hopi silver (content unknown) overlay bolo tie, signed Saufkie (Laurence Saufkie, Hopi Pueblo, 1935-2011), tapered ornament depicting a Katsina/ Kachina beside a rain cloud motif, bolo with pictorial bear hallmark to reverse, bolo ornament only: approx 2"h, 1.5"w, 60 grams (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
