(lot of 2) Artisan Southwest sterling silver bolo ties, each with silver tips, on braided black leather cord, including: (1) signed Carlos Diaz (Columbia, active in Arizona, 20th c.), overlay ornament with raised geometric motifs, bolo hallmarked sterling to reverse, bolo ornament only: approx 2 1/8"h, 1 5/8"w; (1) attributed by consignor to Ladda Bihler (active Texas, 20th c.), ovular ornament with applied organic forms, bolo signed LD Bihler and hallmarked 925 to reverse, bolo ornament only: approx 2.75"h, 2"w; 120.1 grams total (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
