Lot description
Southwest sterling silver bolo tie, Frank Patania Jr. (Santa Fe, New Mexico, b.1932), domed mosaic turquoise ornament with twisted rope surround, silver tips, ornament marked with conjoined FP with crossbar, sterling and Thunderbird Shop pictorial mark, bolo ornament only: approx 2 1/8"h, 2"w, 54.3 grams (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
