Fine German W.K.C Pre-Wwi Lion Head Sword

Lot description

(1) German sword, the very slightly curved 30.5" irregular hamon patterned blade marked at the right side within a banner "Eisenhauer" (iron cutter), the gilt marked right ricasso, beneath the langet marked "W.K.C". with the pre-WWI trademark of Weyersberg, Kirschbaum, Solingen, the right langet with crossed cannons, the left langet with a name shield, the guard with foliate embellishments and a lions head at  the quillion, the black handle is wire wrapped, the pommel is a finely detailed lions head with faceted glass eyes, the blade with no visible nicks, some light spots to the silver tone, the sword housed in a black steel scabbard with scratches and dents, overall approx. 37"l, 2.40lbs         Provenance: Collection of T'Odon Charles (Chuck) Leshikar, Jr., (Texas,1946-2020), Vietnam, U.S. Army Lt. ,“Delta Raiders,” D Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment, later Echo Company commander, Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, Soldiers Medal, Purple Heart.
