English Georgian period oak corner chair, late 18th c., originally a commode chair, now fashioned with a slip seat in later patterned fabric upholstery, having curved top rail and vasiform splats, over pie crust apron, rising on cylindrical supports, ending on front pad foot, approx 30.75"h, 26.5"w, 25"d, seat height: approx 18"h Provenance: purchased from Royal Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana; The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance.
