Japanese Kozuka knife handle by Hamano Naochika (Tatsuryuken), Kai Province, c. 1784-1808, executed in copper, silver and gold and depicting the Omori Hikohichi legend in relief, a demon woman in the appearing as a horned bovine demon figure rising behind an apparently masked warrior with its hand on a sword handle, all above a flowing body of water, the scene is accented in gold and copper, the reverse handle side with Japanese Kanji characters, the handle approx. 3.5/8"l, ,4/8"w, 32.8 grams, housed in a fitted wood box, for shipping box is approx.1.25"h, 5.75"w, 3.5"d, .33lbs Provenance: Provenance: Retained by inheritance from the sale of an antique Japanese Armor collection sold by Sotheby's, London.
