Japanese Kozuka knife handle, Tsuchiya Masachika VI (d.1861), executed in copper, silver and gold and depicting a Dancing Man under a pine tree and holding up a gold fan in one hand, the other hand holding a gold pole with an oval copper disc having an engraved depiction of the three leg raven Yatagarasu with a gold eye and beak, the reverse handle side with Japanese Kanji characters, the handle approx. 3.75"l, .5/8"w, 35.1 grams. housed in a fitted wood box, for shipping box approx. 1.5" x 5.5/8"w, 3.25"d, .35lbs Provenance: Retained by inheritance from the sale of an antique Japanese Armor collection sold by Sotheby's, London.
