Historical record: Slave Bill of Sale, September 26, 1840, the appointment of James J. Neilson as an agent by Pauline Sharp of the" Parish of East Baton Rouge, La, to act sign my name a certain bill of sale of a slave, sold to me by B. O, (Bernard) Comausc (sp?) for the sum of eight hundred dollars" notarized by Louis Petit...."a Negro girl named Marguerite aged about eighteen years".....further attested to by "John Dutton, Parish of Iberville, Parish Judge" with his stamp and signature, document is in three parts, paper is mostly very legible but fragile
