Native American sterling silver and multi-stone 'Yei mask' belt buckle, Jimmy Poyer (Navajo, b.1954), inlaid with turquoise, lapis, spiny oyster, mother-of-pearl and black jet, signed J. Poyer, marked sterling, approx  1.25"h, 2"w, bar: approx 7/8"w, 0.86ozt (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
