(lot of 2) Native American silver (content unknown) overlay bolo ties, Bernard Dawahoya (Hopi Pueblo, 1935-2011), each having tapered rectangular ornament, silver tips, on braided black leather cord, bolo with pictorial cloud mark verso, including: (1) depicting the Hopi Mountain Sheep Katsina/ Kachina, bolo ornament only: approx 3.25"h, 2"w; (1) depicting a corn stalk, bolo ornament only: approx 3 3/8"h, 1 5/8"w; 164.6 grams total (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
