(4) Civil War Archive of Sgt. John M. Coon (New York, 1840-1902), New York 3rd Artillery Regiment, Battery E, the battery participating in numerous battles including Drury's Bluff, Bermuda Hundreds, the siege of Petersburg and Richmond: (1) Remington 1858 New Model Army Revolver, percussion, .44 caliber, the 8" octagonal barrel marked at the top on three lines "Patented Sept. 14, 1858, E. E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, New York, U.S. A., New Model", six round cylinder with safety slots, brass trigger guard with "B" at left, "L" in front and "Y" visible on frame under trigger guard, walnut grips without visible inspection marks, the butt engraved in fancy lettering "J.M. Coon", the metal mostly brown with some small dents and scratches, cylinder drag line,  grip with some scratches, left grip slight loss at butt, loading lever is good, action is good, the serial number matched at the underside of barrel, under the left grip and at rear trigger guard tang visible when removed from frame, SN 63152 (estimated manufacture date March 1864); Items housed in a framed shadow box approx. 23.75"h, 31.5"w, 2"d, 9.75lb: (1) tintype of Coon in uniform standing before a photographers tent backdrop, 3.25"h, 2.1/8"w; (1) certificate dated January 14, 1865 appointing Private John M. Coon, of Light Battery E, Third Regiment of Artillery, New York State Volunteers as a sergeant, signed at the headquarters of the regiment at New Bern, North Carolina by Col. Charles H. Stewart, and counter signed by a 1st lieutenant; (1) discharge certificate of John M. Coon dated at Richmond, Virginia, June 23, 1865; (1) a "Certificate of Honorable Service", dated February 10, 1887, affirming the service of John M. Coon and signed by an Assistant Adjutant General, War Department, Washington, D.C.; (1)  metal unit number "3" approx. 2.5"h, 1.75"w representing the New York 3rd Artillery Regiment; (1) GAR medal with an eagle, crossed cannons, an American flag and a star with soldiers shaking hands; (1) cabinet size photo of Coon as an elderly man; (1) portions of a hand written letter by Coon, now housed in an acrylic sleeve with eight remnants partially with typed transcription, describing in harsh and vivid detail the battle of Drury's Bluff describing the wounding and death of his fellow soldiers, Confederate charges, hiding from Rebel sharp shooters, "wounded men on the ground in heaps", and more; (1) group of more than 60 copied pages of information on Coon from Internet sources, mostly regarding military pension prior to and after his death,  for shipping largest measurement approx. 23.75"h, 31.5"w, 2"d, total of all 15.80lbs
