U.S. Model 1879 Trapdoor Carbine, mfg. Jan-March, 1883, 45.70 caliber, a 22" barrel, blade front sight, single barrel band, adjustable rear sight with "C", the barrel marked in front of the breech at left "V P eagle P", marked at center "A", the lock marked "U.S. Model 1873", the serial number behind breech, the right side lockplate marked with an eagle and "U.S. Springfield", a bar and saddle ring at left side, the left stock stamped "51", the forestock and stock with decorated with numerous brass tacks, the butt plate has a swivel door and is marked at the upper tang "U.S.", wood with many scratches, rubs and abrasions, metal overall is good and as expected, action is good, bore is bright, rifling is quite worn, SN 209307
