Mississippi Rifle, U.S. Model 1841 Percussion Contract Rifle by George W. Tryon, Philadelphia, 1848, .54 caliber, 28.25" barrel, two barrel bands, ram rod, fixed front and rear sights, the lockplate marked in front of the hammer "Tryon over US," lockplate marked behind hammer on three lines "Philada, Pa, 1848," left barrel opposite nipple bolster with possible two letter inspection mark, front tang of trigger guard with "B" inspection mark, stock stamped behind barrel tang "12" (second digit hard to read), left stock above trigger with oval inspection mark, butt plate with small "US" mark, patchbox at right stock with "B" inspection mark, brass fittings, wood in expected condition except right side behind lockplate with repaired and intact fissure, barrel is dark black, bore with light surface rust, action is good, approx 44"l, 9.25lbs Start Price: $400.00
