Lot description
Decorative African stitched hide wall-hanging animal picture, Kudu, depicting an antelope with forward-facing gaze, on ovular brindle hide background with ornamental border, adhered to wood backboard, approx 39.5"h, 30"w, 8.75lbs Provenance: Vukari Art, artisan-crafted from 100% Nguni Cowhide Note per consignor: Of all the African antelope, the Kudu’s corkscrew horns are the longest and most spectacular of them all, twisting with a grace found nowhere else in the wild. African tradition tells that once the Creator finished the earth and its creatures, He took His last brush of white paint and drew a single, perfect stripe across the Kudu’s nose, declaring him the most beautiful of all. This piece captures that legendary elegance: the silent, spiraled majesty of a spirit that disappears into the shadows the moment it is seen.
