French Louis XVI style carved walnut highback armchair/ fauteuil, early 19th c., having padded back and seat covered in worn 18th-century tapestry upholstery, with petite and gros point needlework, depicting an allegorical musician with lute, beside winged cherub, the seat with lions in verdant landscape, close-nailed trim, rising on stretcher-joined scrolled supports, evidence of old woodworm to stretcher and legs, approx 45.5"h, 26"w, 23"d, seat height: approx 17"h Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia. Kathryn retired in 2020 and now lives in Georgetown, Texas
