French Louis XIV style carved walnut highback armchair/ fauteuil, 19th c., having padded back and seat covered in worn 18th-century tapestry upholstery, with petite and gros point needlework, depicting songbirds and floral motifs in scrolled cartouche, with ribbon trim, rising on stretcher-joined volute supports, approx 46"h, 23"w, 21"d, seat height: approx 17.5"h Provenance: The collection of Kathryn V. Alexander, an antiques dealer and designer with over 20 years of experience operating shops in New Orleans, Louisiana, and Middleburg, Virginia. Kathryn retired in 2020 and now lives in Georgetown, Texas
