Lot description

Swiss silver (content unknown) shooting prize cup, commemorating the 1883 Lugano Shooting Festival, engraved "Tito Federale Lugano 1883" at upper rim, having central Greek cross in shield and ribbon cartouche, among trailing foliates, stars, and fan motifs, rising on knopped and spiral-twisted standard, ending on circular foot, unmarked, loss to foliate flourishes at ends, approx 7 3/8"h, 3 5/8"diam, 5.04ozt Provenance: The lifetime collection of Lynn Roth Jordan (Louisiana, Texas, 1943-2021). As an active member of the Austin Antiques Club for many years, Lynn was deeply embedded in the antiques community here in Austin. Her New Orleans upbringing in a family of collectors (many of the pieces come from her mother's estate), combined with her frequent trips to England, gave her a unique understanding of provenance, quality, and historical significance. The estate features an extensive array of English furniture alongside antique decorative objects, the kind of exceptional pieces that only reveal themselves to collectors who know where to look and what to seek.
