Large Japanese patinated bronze urn and cover or incense burner, Meiji period (1868-1912), having pierced cover with eagle on a rocky outcrop preying on a serpent, cylindrical body with elaborate scene of cranes amongst bamboo and plum blossoms, flanked by handles modeled as pine tree branches, the stem with protruding wreath of auspicious clouds, ending on circular base with wave and koi fish motifs, over birds perched atop blossoming branches, remnants of a gilded patina, approx 27.5"h, 13"w, 9"d, 28.5lbs
