Impressive Modernist sterling silver concho belt, Frank Patania Sr. (Sicilian-American, born Messina, Italy, active in New Mexico, 1899-1964), large rectangular repousse buckle, nine oval conchos with gadrooned and stampworked trim, on a black leather belt, interior of buckle monogrammed MRL for Mirandi R. Levi (sister-in-law of the artist), dated 1952, hallmarked sterling, stamped FP with Thunderbird shop mark, buckle: approx 3.25"h, 4"w, conchos: approx 2.75"h, 3.25"w, belt: approx 39"l (first hole) to 43"l (last hole), 521.0 grams (inclusive of all materials), approx 14.66ozt Provenance: The family of Alfred A. King (Texas, 1916-2006) great-grandson of Captain Richard King, founder of the now 825,000 acre Texas King Ranch.
