(lot of 27) French library shelf books, various literature and history subjects, all with gilt-embossed leather binding, many with marbleized cover and raised spine bands, highlights include: (2) "L'Imitation du Christ (The Imitation of Christ)," each with detailed cover with embossed scene depicting Christ's Crucifixion, back cover depicting the Resurrection, complete in two volumes, edited by Club de Livre, Paris, with illustrations after Edy-Legrand, (9) "Histoire de la Revolution Francaise (History of the French Revolution)," by M. A. Thiers, published by Furne and Company, Paris, 1843, volumes I-IX, (2) "Les Deux Orphelines (The Two Orphans)," by Adolphe D'Ennery, published by Jules Rouff and Company, complete in two volumes, largest: approx 11"h, 7.25"w, 2.5"d, 65lbs total PLEASE NOTE: All of the antique library shelf books in this auction are inherently fragile.
