Lot description
U.S. WWI Uniform & Accoutrements, likely assembled, most mounted on a mannequin and not examined off the mannequin, includes a 3rd Infantry Division Brodie helmet with chin strap and liner, 1917 coat with 2" standup collar having the insignia of "U.S." and "1st Cavalry, Company B", five front buttons, four buttoned pockets. buttoned shoulder loops, the right sleeve with a circular Cavalry crossed sword patch, the left shoulder with a red diamond on green patch (possibly 5th Infantry Division, Mounted), and a lower red discharge chevron, the lined interior with makers label at underside that is unreadable, the coat with a Mills belt dated "1918", last patent date "Oct. 22, '18", with 10 pouches and 1 magazine double pouch", other items attached to the Mills belt include a M1912 brown holster stamped at the front "U.S." within an oval, stamped below on the flap "C D 45", the holster back stamped "Rock Island Arsenal, 1915, T.C.C.", a M1912 Rifle Ring, and the frog only for a not present knife and sheath, attached from shoulder to opposite waist is a two part bandolier having 12 single pouches and one triple pouch, at the coat back are two backpacks joined by laces, both marked at the flaps "U.S.", one marked at the interior "R.I.A. 1917", the other interior marked "P.B. & Co. 1918", the trousers, not examined off the mannequin, have side laces at the ankles, a pair of ankle high boots, brown leather, possibly size 10, are marked at the interior "U.S.A." and "Raines", holes in both soles, for all items shipping approx. measures of items on mannequin are 40" x 20" x 11", measure of both boots and helmet as one unit 7" x 12.25" x 11.5", total of all items approx. 28.55lbs Provenance: Collection of T'Odon Charles (Chuck) Leshikar, Jr., (Texas,1946-2020), Vietnam, U.S. Army Lt. ,“Delta Raiders,” D Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment, later Echo Company commander, Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, Soldiers Medal, Purple Heart.
