French Louis XV period ormolu-mounted green stained-horn cartel clock, second half 18th c., the case surmounted by a cast crest with cockerel and hound, above the central enamel dial with Roman and Arabic chapters, pierced gilt hands, dial signed "Bouchet a Paris" (Jean-Louis Bouchet, m.1762), twin barrel movement, silk suspension, numbered pierced count wheel striking on a bell, the back of the movement also signed "Bouchet a Paris," the case blindstamped J.B. Galet (Jean-Baptiste Galet, m.1754, d.1784)/ JME (Jurande des Menuisiers Ebenistes) and J.N. Clavelle, on scroll feet, accompanied by a conforming bracket with similar applied mounts, accompanied by pendulum, case lacking one glass side pane, not currently operational, clock: approx 42"h, 19.5"w, 9"d, bracket: approx 17.5"h, 21.75"w, 12.25"d Provenance: From the Byram Family's Above Stratford Mansion.
