(lot of 2) Native American silver (content unknown) bolo ties, each with tapered plaque in a geometric pattern, on a braided black leather cord, ending in silver-tone tips, including: (1) Rick and Lucy Vacit (Zuni, New Mexico, 20th c.), the plaque with inlays of mother-of-pearl, jet, turquoise and spiny oyster, marked R&L Vacit, Zuni, NM., bolo ornament only: approx 2"h, 1.5"w, (1) attributed to Charlotte Dishta (Zuni, 20th c.), plaque with mother-of-pearl, jet, spiny oyster and turquoise, unsigned, bolo ornament only: 2"h, 1 5/8"w, 61 grams total (inclusive of all materials) Provenance: the collection of a psychiatrist who taught at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas in the 1960s and went on to become a founding faculty member of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where he taught thousands of doctors over a career into the 2000s. The doctor amassed his collection over several years with dedication, care, a critical eye for detail, and cultural appreciation.
