(lot of 3) U.S.Army Covers or Campaign Hats: (1) U.S. Pattern 1889 Cavalry hat, the front with attached cavalry insignia of crossed swords and "13" over "D", three inch brim with 5 rows of stitching, four vent holes, hat ribbon with vertical lines, the yellow cord color is faded but visible under fluorescent light, the cord is secured to the hat by the leather head strap ends, the sweat band is unmarked, an owners initials at the interior "HGB", retains leather strap, this example is in good condition overall Note: The history of this particular hat is unknown. The history of the 13th U.S. Cavalry Regiment includes the1916 Battle of Columbus, New Mexico, the invasion of Mexican revolutionists into the United States led by Pancho Villa.); (1) Campaign hat, WWI era, olive green, 3" brim, four ventilation holes, oval metal grommets for chin strap, no maker markings, sweat band is torn, moth holes at right peak; (1) Army pith helmet, the interior stamped "Chapeau de Paris", vent at top, three vent holes at both left and right sides, brown leather chin strap, the interior brim in green material, sweat band marked 55 (size) is black with green, exterior with brown staining; for shipping largest measurements approx. 6.25" z 12" x 13.25", total of all 1.50lbs Provenance: Collection of T'Odon Charles (Chuck) Leshikar, Jr., (Texas,1946-2020), Vietnam, U.S. Army Lt. ,“Delta Raiders,” D Company, 2nd Battalion, 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment, later Echo Company commander, Silver Star, three Bronze Stars, Soldiers Medal, Purple Heart.
