Lot description

Colt Model 1878 Single Action Revolver, ANTIQUE, mfg. 1878, .45 caliber, having a 7.5" round barrel, blade front sight, shell ejector at the barrel underside, the barrel top marked on one line "Colt's PT. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford CT. U.S.A.", six round fluted cylinder, the left lower frame with three patent dated ending in "Jan 19 75", the caliber stamped at the rear of the trigger guard, the grips are ivory in yellow patina indicating they were possibly installed shortly after the manufacture, the serial number is matched at the butt, trigger guard, frame cylinder and under the ejector housing, the loading gate number appears to be "6038", an estimated 40% of the original nickel plating remains, scars and drag line on cylinder, action is good with four clicks when retracting the hammer, the bore is bright, strong rifling, pitting, SN 42495   *ANTIQUE*
