Fine santo/ altar figure, La Virgen y el Nino (Madonna and Christ Child), Spain, 19th c., gesso over carved wood with polychrome paint, each figure with inset glass eyes and pierced gilt-metal halo, Mary adorned in an elaborate silk mantle, with couched metallic thread embroidery, gold ribbon trim, rhinestone-encrusted earrings and brooch, the Infant Jesus in lace robe, rising on stepped giltwood pedestal, typical small losses to child's fingers, figure: approx 33.75"h, 15"w, 11"d, overall: approx 38.5"h, 15"w, 11"d, 14lbs
