French tin-glazed terracotta "epis de faitage" or roof ridge animal figure, attributed to Poterie du Mesnil de Bavent, Normandy, late 19th c., modeled as a scaredy cat arching its back, with inset glass eyes, unmarked, overall crazing and evidence of outdoor use, old professional restoration at base of tail, approx 6 5/8"h, 10"w, 3"d, 2.5lbs Provenance: the Stanley Family's fine Tarrytown Estate. Purchased at Animal Art Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana
